The planning process reflects the business cases, which are configured in patterns. Their adjustment and adaptation is controlled by policies. Rule sets are defined, which control the flow of a planning process

Pattern and Policies can be changed during run-time, which renders the application highly flexible and also increases the system's overall up-time.

Patterns and Policies are built into an agent structure. These agents can then cooperate with one another. This enables:

• Agents fulfil parts of or the entire value chain
• Using agents, arbitrary topologies can be implemented
• Agents support the scalability of an application

This agent architecture is perfectly suited for distributed environments. The implemented applications and interfaces remain overseeable.
