Innovation project with Qnamic Inc. A group of economical computer science students from the University for Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland visited Qnamic Inc. in Hägendorf on the 27th November 2008. As a part of their bachelor program, for the module “Innovation Management” the students are examining new technologies and trends in the IT-world and identifying and judging potential innovations. In his role as guest speaker, Dirk Pfeiffer, CEO of Qnamic Inc., made the connection from theory to praxis. In a course accompanying project, the students will gather and create concepts of product innovations for software used to plan several resources simultaneously. During their visit to Qnamic Inc., the students were able to take a closer look at Qnamic’s planning and production software RailOpt. They were especially interested in interface problems, as well as the optimisation and automation of complex simultaneous processes. With their collected practical knowledge, the young computer scientists will now create their concepts and suggestions of practical uses for planning solutions. Prof. Dr. Rolf Dornberger is the leader of the institute for economical computer sciences and teaches the module Innovation Management, where he places high value on the relation to practical work: “We’ve been working with Qnamic Inc. for several years now, and the experience has always been great. Such projects are of immense value for everyone involved; synergies between university and economy can be found and implemented most efficiently in this fashion.” |
