The quickly and competently implemented functionality expansions in RailOpt concur with the processes we see in practice everyday”, says Urs Oberholzer, RailOpt Project Manager at SOB (Switzerland) to RailOpt Release 3.2. The Release 3.2 offers the users additional features in the following areas: Functionality: Increased planning functionality for dispatching trains, such as group activities or partial route accompaniment New copy functionality for services across timetable periods and projects (one or several personnel / vehicle services from various timetables or projects can be copied to the target project with all details) Extended import / export possibilities for Master- and Planning-data Improved support when creating trains past midnight Simplified behaviour of linked services Queries: Extended train query possibility to quickly locate individual train activities, including a new list view of all partial activities (including special activity types, partial routes, involved resources etc.) Gantt Chart: Saving of several gantt chart tabs, so that these can be accessed quickly when needed Additional information concerning activities in the information window (e.g. work-time, qualifications) Clear colour difference between saved activities on the gantt chart Security: Added user privileges for core functionality Concise security questions when deleting multiple activities Report: New report for the overview of available personnel Revision of web-reports with additional details Improved visualisation of partial activities in tabular reports (pre- / run- / post- activities) Additional options for sorting and leaving out blank lines Additional Modules: Web-based time accounting module for BLS Inc.: all employee relevant times can be accessed at all time (including expenses and data relevant for bonuses) Integration of the driver-order document for BLS Inc.: Orders and run sequences, based on the service planning done with RailOpt and the necessary route information from SBB’s SYFA, are directly created in RailOpt Marc Schaffert, Vice President of Product Management, sees a rising importance of RailOpt for train operating companies, due to the constant additions in new releases. “The future of RailOpt is the possibility of using RailOpt’s features even outside of planning and production.” The next RailOpt Release is planned for summer 2009. Next to further functional additions, the introduction of maintenance planning will be in focus.
