Swiss Public Transport Journalists experience RailOpt at SOB About 50 media contributors of public transport met in Einsiedeln (Switzerland) on the 16th and 17th of March. Following the member conference, they visited the service center of the South East Railway AG (Südostbahn SOB) in Samstagern during the Monday afternoon. While one group visited the SOB’s workshop, SOB Director Guido Schoch informed the other group about SOB’s infrastructure expansion and offered a round of questions and answers. Urs Oberholzer, RailOpt project manager at SOB, explained the software RailOpt, which SOB uses to plan its personnel and rolling stock since 2005. The audience was impressed, especially about the live interfaces in RailOpt, which allow users to gain a quick overview of the current traffic situation. With RailOpt, the audience was able to follow the traffic of a train they had seen in the workshop earlier that day. The entire program of the annual member conference was met with interest by the media contributors of public transport.
