BLS also convinced of RailOpt DIS BLS AG has decided to implement RailOpt DIS (Driver Information System). The contract was signed shortly before Christmas. Since December 2008, BLS AG has generated its order documents for locomotive staff using the paper-supported application “GAZELA” in RailOpt. GAZELA was implemented in 2008 as a pre-cursor to a completely paper-less solution due to completion deadlines. In 2010, GAZELA will be replaced by RailOpt DIS. The product RailOpt DIS is an information system for locomotive staff. The mobile device can also serve as a mobile workspace. Changes to shift plans, operative disturbances, etc. can be entered at the source, processed in RailOpt and distributed to all involved personnel quickly. Peter Fankhauser, Manager of Train Production at BLS AG, was pleased with the decision: “The introduction of an electronic mobile device for locomotive staff is of epic value for a modern, innovative workplace as well as for actor information for the coming years.” BLS AG plans and dispatches its personnel and rolling stock with Qnamic Inc.’s software RailOpt and has been doing so since 2004. The option to expand the electronic locomotive workspace with RailOpt DIS, making – for example – delay or disturbance updates available in real time, represents the base for greatly improving companywide communication. |
